Itinerary 

DAY 1 :
ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA  

You will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to your overnight accommodation at the Mount Meru Hotel where  our staff will provide you with a short briefing answer all your queries regarding your upcoming safari. Thereafter, the day is your own to explore Arusha.

DAY 2:
ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK 

In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and we’ll head to the Tarangire National Park. This park is particularly known for the abundance of ancient Baobab trees and has the highest concentration of elephants in Tanzania. The park is also home to lions, cheetah, leopards and herbivores such as giraffes, wildebeest and zebras We will also visit the beautiful Tarangire River picnic site for lunch and enjoy the beautiful view of the river. Hopefully a family of elephants will come to the river during the heat of the day. After lunch we will continue our game drive and then we will head to our overnight accommodation at the Maramboi Tented Lodge.

DAY 3:
TARANGIRE TO SERENGETI  NATIONAL PARK 

After an early breakfast we leave Tarangire and head to the Serengeti National Park. which covers an area of 14,763 square kilometres. Watching the grassland stretch out as far as the eye can see until it eventually merges with the sky at the horizon is absolutely breathtaking. The Serengeti is home to hundreds of thousands of animals and is a pristine and unique sanctuary. It is also home to the “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) as well as Africa’s most beautiful animal – the impala. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. Your first game drive in the Serengeti will take place in the late afternoon and where you'll experience the famous Serengeti sunset. As night falls, we might get lucky to find a predator hunting or on a kill. We'll then head to the Serengeti Acacia Camp where we will be staying for the next 2 nights.

DAY 4:
SERENGETI NATIONAL
PARK (FULL DAY) 


 

A full day with morning and afternoon game drives to explore the plains of the famous Serengeti National Park. The abundance of wildlife that calls the Serengeti home is unsurpassed.  If you are lucky to visit at the right time of year, you’ll witness the Great Migration where millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the plains of the Serengeti in search of greener pastures. Apart from the migratory animals, you’ll also see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants buffalo and other plains game. You’ll can’t but be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park. If you fancy a different experience, we’ll book you a balloon safari (for your own account). There is nothing quite like drifting silently above the plains of the Serengeti.

DAY 5:
SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER

 

After a very early breakfast, we’ll make the 600-metre descent in a 4WD vehicle into the Ngorongoro Crater often referred to as Africa’s Eden and the 8th Natural Wonder of the World. The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera and measures 22.5 kilometres across and a massive floor of about 260 square kilometres with rim walls that stand 600 metres high. Views from within the crater and from the rim are breathtaking. The crater houses 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds and is home to black rhino, cheetah, lion, leopard, elephant, wildebeest, zebra and birds like ostrich, vultures and flamingos. Keep your camera at the ready as the crater will show you plenty of animal action.

We’ll have lunch at the Ngoitokitok Hippo Pool and after another late afternoon/evening game drive we’ll head to the beautiful Ngorongoro Farm House on the crater’s edge where we’ll enjoy a another spectacular Tanzanian sunset, a good meal and a comfy bed

DAY 6:
NGORONGORO CRATER
ARUSHA TO ZANZIBAR

After breakfast, we head back to Arusha for lunch. You will bid farewell to your safari team at the  Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will catch a flight to Zanzibar. On arrival on   beautiful island of Zanzibar, you will be met by our island representative who will supervise your transfer to Stone Town and the Tembo Hotel.  You will just have time to take in the sights and aromas of the old city, a UNESCO heritage site and cultural heart of the island and as the sun starts to set, you can join the locals who congregate at the beachfront cafes and restaurants to watch the setting sun.

DAY 7:
STONE TOWN TO NORTH NUNGWI BEACH 
 

The day kicks off after breakfast with a comprehensive guided tour of Stone Town. Experience the rich history and unique architecture of the city before heading to the bustling markets, alleys and the former slave market. Lunch will be for your own account and we recommend you experience the food from a street vendor or food market.  After lunch, we will head into the surrounding countryside to the Kizimbani Village where we will visit a spice plantation. Here you will be welcomed by the rich aroma of spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.

After lunch we head to North Nungwi Beach, a favourite amongst visitors to Zanzibar for its white sand, clear turquoise waters and romantic sunsets. We’ll stop off at the Jozani Forest which is the last remaining habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey.  A local guide will accompany you on a walk through the Jozani Chwaka National Park to see this rare monkey. To get a real feel of the forest, you can also follow the boardwalk through the mangrove ecosystem. We will be staying at the lovely Z Hotel for the next two nights.

Celebrate your last day on this beautiful island by taking an early morning walk on the white sand beach and take some photos in the morning light.  After a delicious breakfast, enjoy a dip in the pool or take a last swim in the sea. In the afternoon, with loads of sun-drenched memories, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the mainland.

DAY 8:
NORTH NUNGWI BEACH
(FULL DAY) 

 

DAY 9:
STONE TOWN TO AIRPORT 
 

Unwind on the beach or by the pool surrounded by palm trees with a good book and an icy beverage. This is also a haven for underwater lovers as you can also enjoy a day of snorkelling or scuba diving. Indeed, a place to relax for all type of guests.
